Putera UMNO shifts into pro-active gear

Putera Umno has entered an agreement with Giatmara entrepreneurial training centre to provide courses for unemployed youths, switching its campaign to help youths away from high-profile activities that serve little purpose.

The movement's chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said its members should now direct their efforts at providing human capital by guiding unemployed youths through education and training. He said the wing had decided to stop or reduce highly-publicised activities such as swimming across the Malacca Straits or skydiving over the North Pole.

"In view of the large number of youths who had completed their SPM-level schooling, the movement will provide assistance to those who had failed to gain seats in local universities and colleges," he added.

Putera Umno is targeting about 1,000 such youths in each state to take up technical courses at Giatmara centres throughout the country.

Well, to give credit where credit is due...Bravo! Putera UMNO. But, I just hope it will keep to it in the long haul...
